I'm better at replying to discussion than starting it, but I figured I'd get a thread up.
So just how cool was this episode?
For me, there was a moment of -bad- writing.
Dave Matthews was amazing.
Foreman rocked the house.
Chase was adorable.
Make a Wish Foundation = Best. Line. Ever.
If I allowed bashing I'd be all over Cameron right now.
That piano scene could have lasted forever, and I would not have complained.
And, once again, I did not cry!
Okay! Those are my scattered thoughts. I'll expand if more people reply with THEIR thoughts. Hahaha.

It was amazing indeed. I pretty much agree with you about everything, and for once, I actually did /not/ see the ending coming. I'd read he had cancer...I did not read that he was just trying to get a good high going on. Fwah.
And the end, with Wilson and House was good. The heroine bit had my mother and I cracking up. As well as the Make a Wish Foundation bit, very good [:
And aww. Chase cried. It was a very manly cry, I'll give him that, and it was the sweetest thing.
The very ending, though, when House went to walk in the bar--Ehh. It seemed not-him, cause since when does he listen to Wilson? But otherwise, the episode was fantabulous.
And we actually get nine straight weeks :0 After a two-week waiting period, but still, that's a pretty good deal for House since it's usually on once a month x.x.

I'd read he had cancer...I did not read that he was just trying to get a good high going on. Fwah. Hahah, that's why you never take spoilers as etched in stone. I had read that he had cancer, but I had also read that it was some kind of ploy, so I was prepared for the ending. Plus, I really didn't think the writers would rip so liberally from ER, a comparison they would not have been able to avoid. Mark Greene has brain cancer on ER. Sooo... I mean, House already has the cantankerous doctor with the limp. That's enough. (Doctor Weaver, anyone?)
-shifty eyes-
I used to love ER. I'm just pointing things out though. I'm not trying to instigate a discussion or anything. And the end, with Wilson and House was good. The heroine bit had my mother and I cracking up. As well as the Make a Wish Foundation bit, very good [: Heh. I loved the Make a Wish Foundation quote. Wilson, however, is responsible for my moment of "Was that bad writing, or bad acting?" It was early in the episode, when he was talking to Cuddy about people with cancer. I just didn't believe him.And aww. Chase cried. It was a very manly cry, I'll give him that, and it was the sweetest thing. Hahah, he's so cute. All of their faces at the end were adorable. They were just so damn excited. And I love Chases flat out "I'm going to hug you."The very ending, though, when House went to walk in the bar--Ehh. It seemed not-him, cause since when does he listen to Wilson? But otherwise, the episode was fantabulous. I disagree. I think that was a good character move for him. Just because a character becomes iconic, like House's misanthropy, that does not mean he can't grow. I think he listens to Wilson more than you realize, and the way Dave Matthew's character affected him also moved him to going into that bar. I was giddy with joy when he reached for that door. It was exactly what I wanted him to do. Perfect, in my opinion. But I just get tired of the same, stoic character choices. Growth is awesome. Orchestrating that growth in as subtle a way as the writers are doing for House is sooooo awesome. Digging it.And we actually get nine straight weeks :0 After a two-week waiting period, but still, that's a pretty good deal for House since it's usually on once a month x.x. Whoo hoo!

*sigh* Season three doesn't even start here until the end of March -_-. It'll be late summer before I see that epsiode. The Irish televsion channels have it months ahead, but for some reason I started watching on the British network, which takes years to get programes... and I don't want my viewing out of order. Gah ><

I'm sorry to hear that.
I went back to England to visit the family for a month, and it was torture. Not having my up-to-date shows. Hahahah.
Do you not mind spoilers, then? Because most of us live in America, and can watch it when it airs. Which means this isn't technically a spoiler thread... and by coming in here I assume you don't mind us talking freely about the content of the episode?

Of course not ^-^ I'm too impatient to wait, i've been reading epsiode synopsis of Desperate Housewives season three, and peeping in on House discussion boards to see what's going on in season three. I wouldn't nosy around on here if I wern't tempted to see what's happening ^-^ I'm going to start watching House on the Irish network soon anyhow, readopt my nationality out of impatience.

Hahah, cool beans! I'm impatient, too. That's why I read spoilers and look things up three hours before it airs here... because people on the East Coast get it first. Hahaha. -shifty eyes-

I think you've all pretty much covered everything but I'll re-state stuff anyway, because I'm cool like that. Haha.
Cancer Plot
I was relieved that they didn't actually put that he had brain cancer. The whole use of that plotline is really overdone. Sure, it's great to see the different character reactions but to actually have something like that is kind of ridiculous. Plus, the whole MAIN DOCTOR CHARACTER GETS SICK thing is really really overdone on other shows too. And if House is going to be on for so much longer, they'll have to save that plot line. Especially seeing as how they already had Foreman getting sick.
I thought it was really stupid from the beginning, when people online were talking about it. And while I didn't THINK they would do it, you always worry and wonder...which is why I'm SO glad it turned out the way it did! We got to see the ducklings/Wilson/Cuddy's reactions and House being a jerk WITHOUT the draw backs. So it worked out perfectly and I'm completely happy with the writing for it in this episode.
Dave
This has to be one of THE best PotW EVER. I mean, RIGHT up there with Andy in season 2. But Dave has that extreme advantage of being oddly adorable AND the piano. I loved his 'I don't like girls...I like the piano!' - that was so oddly cute, in the child-like way.
I will definitely remember him much in the way that I remember Andy. They were both amazing PotW's, and while Dave may not have had as much weight as Andy, simply because that episode had House-character-development, but it was still fantastic. And YES, House and Dave playing the piano together was amazing. They are both so talented and it was a great scene.
Foreman
I absolutely adored him. I loved his need to have some kind of connection with House because he thought he was dying, but how he still wanted to focus on the case. In all honesty I think House was kind of right about him only coming out and saying that he likes him because he was dying. I don't know if Foreman really LIKES House, exactly, definitely definitely respects and admires him but like...not so much. I also loooved the line about 'punching people who don't deserve it' which is pretty much the only mention of when he punched Chase that there's been so far.
"You're right. I don't like you." - One of the most amazing lines in this episode. Which is really saying a lot considering there were some fantastic ones.
Cuddy
It was somewhat disappointing that she wasn't in this episode very much. True, I understand that they wanted to show Cam/Chase/Foreman's reactions, since we ALREADY know Cuddy and Wilson adore him...but still. She could have had a bit more screentime. But there is only so much time each character can get and I understand that they had to make way for the ducks/Dave and all. Still, couldn't she have taken some of Cameron's screen time? She always gets too much, haha.
The Make a Wish Foundation is another one of the BEST lines in this episode. I loved how Cuddy was perfectly capable of talking to him like normal though too. It's like she could understand that House wanted to focus on the patient and didn't feel the need to go overboard with emotion. The hug was cute and the ass-grab was hilarious. Hugh and Lisa have such good chemistry on screen together. That scene was brilliance, in every way.
Wilson
Much the same as things were with Cuddy, I was vaguely annoyed by the lack of screen time...But, with Cuddy more than Wilson. Mostly because...we've had HOW many episodes where Wilson worried over House, where Wilson cared over House, where Wilson bent over backwards for House...So have another episode with JUST that would have been overkill. So I actually didn't mind that he wasn't in it as much.
The last scene with Wilson and House vaguely annoyed me for one reason...because I really honestly think Wilson should have yelled at him or punched him or SOMETHING. Lying and faking cancer to get drugs...doesn't deserve a "you should get pizza with a friend *hinthint MEPLEASE hinthint* The best part with Wilson was when Cameron was running up behind him going "Wilson! Wilson! It's me, Cameron!" and Wilson rolls his eyes like "GOD NO NOT HER" - Which seriously made me laugh.
Cameron
At the start of the episode she was pretty good. Sure, nosy, but that's just how she is. And she was worried about House, which I can buy, seeing as how she's pretty much obsessed with him. But everything else in the episode annoyed me, quite a lot.
The kiss. It was...really kind of disguisting, just because, and I'm sorry maybe this is just me, but...House is REALLY too old for her. It looked like she was making out with her father, with his beard and how young she looked. And just being totally manipulative when she grabbed the needle. I also hate how her personality bounces back and forth and what WAS that all about "*sigh* I might as well completely pack up and move RIGHT NOW if you're not going to be around in a year because I totally am only staying to try and get in your pants" - That was pretty messed up. I hated the kiss and really thought they could have done without it. But of course the writers seem to love House/Cameron so...Bah, whatever.
I also thought her bit at the end was out of line. What was that about 'I'm so glad we didn't sleep together'....since WHEN was it ever even CLOSE to you two sleeping together anyway?! I mean, really...Yes, you're pretty...but it's not like House has been begging to jump your pants! He makes comments about how you're pretty...so what!? He makes even MORE comments to Cuddy and CHASE. Do you REALLY think you're just that special? Or that he wants to do you, AND Cuddy AND Chase?
- Also, as a side note and just speaking from Chase's point of view...That was kind of mean, to say that right in front of him. I mean, sure, you're not actually dating or anything, but still. Also, if she always denies that she has a thing for House then how is that, and KISSING him really supposed to help her case? Crazy girl.
Chase
Seeing as how Chase has become my favorite character, I have to say I was absolutely overjoyed with pretty much everything in this episode. First, though, I have to point out the bad....which was....um...the hat! What was up with that BRIGHT ORANGE hat he was wearing when breaking in with Cameron? That was just bizarre. I also thought the bit about propositioning her to sleep in House's bed was kind of lame, but it was in character and I thought it was funny anyway. The whole "well if I'm going to get fired anyway..." was a good point, hey, might as well go for the gold!
I really love the whole father-view Chase has of House, I've ALWAYS thought it was interesting. And this episode just showed it that much more. I adored the look on Chase's face when he was giving House the results, he had that shiny look to his eyes, all emotional, like he wanted to hug House right then and there. And I LOVED how House was looking at him, and like '...YOU TOLD HIM" which was funny too.
Then there was the actual hug which was perfect. Even though it was kind of soppy, Chase is rarely emotional so it meant a lot. I think he had the deepest reaction of all of them, just because his dad died of cancer. It was like it was happening all over again. GREAT line again, with the, "I'm sorry you're dying. I'm going to hug you now. Anything to say?" - Like he knew House didn't want him to, but he didn't care and was going to do it anyway. Laughed a lot at House's line "Well if you're going to grab my ass don't start anything you can't finish" - Which had a nice pause as Chase actually did hug him and a nice relation to when he hugged and grabbed Cuddy's ass, hah.
Nice character change for Chase standing up a bit more for himself and what he wanted to do. Like when House told them all to work on the patient, it was always Chase who was like "Yeah...once we're finished with you" and it was Chase who saw that there was no cancer. I just loved it, I loved it all. And I think he's allowed to be a bit emotional for once, it's not like it happens often, so it was nice to see. And a very good acting job. I can't place a word to it, but just that look on his face as he was hugging House, I really felt that.
The scene at the end was really awesome for all three of them, but particular Chase and Foreman, seeing as they don't often look so HAPPY like that. The "You don't have cancer!" - Awesome. Also, Chase's flash of jealousy when Foreman said House should be making out with Cameron was a nice touch and good lead in to the fact he has a crush on her. All in all, I loved his parts. ^^
Ending
At first I was thinking "No, there is NO way he's going to go hang out with Cam/Chase/Foreman, noo way" Since normally he just goes with Wilson. And I KNOW how pissed off all the House/Wilson fangirls are that he didn't, and actually did go see the ducklings, but I thought it was a nice change, really.
I mean, you can't be completely dependant on one person for all your social interactions, and it would be cool if he hung out with the three. I just wish we got to see their reactions and House being like "Um...can I sit here?" - Not that he would be, he'd just sit down and start talking to them like last time, but still...it'd be good to see. Oh well, they had to end the episode somehow, right? ^^
So, all in all, I definitely rate this one an 5/5, with the ONLY bad part being the House/Cameron kiss. Everything else was brillant. ^^
